Installing the Dionex 16-Bit DAC Card "DAC340" (PDA DA Converter)

 Tips:

Due to its obsolete technology, the 16-bit DAC card is no longer available from Dionex. However, 16-bit DAC cards may still be used in the field. Therefore, refer to the installation instructions below if necessary.

This card is not supported under Windows Vista or later.

The Dionex 16-bit DAC card converts digital signals from the Dionex UVD 340S, UVD 170S, UVD 320S, and UVD 160S detectors into analog signals.

The card has four independent 16-bit analog outputs; that is, up to four detector channels can be output in analog form. The output voltage range (-10 V to +10 V) is constant and has a resolution of approximately 0.3 mV.

A 16-bit ISA-slot and 40 free hex I/O addresses are required. To install the card, follow the steps below:

 Selecting the I/O Address

 Setting Interrupts, Wait States, Jumpers

 Connecting the Analog Outputs

To control the card with Chromeleon, install the card in the Server Configuration program. Select Add Sharable Devices on the context menu, and then select Dionex PDA DA Converter (16 Bit) from the list. The Dionex PDA DA Converter (16 Bit) dialog box appears. On the General tab page, assign the port address.

 Caution:

Use a ballpoint pen to set the switches. Do not use a pencil, as graphite particles could cause a short circuit in the switch.

To avoid conflicts, use the default settings whenever possible.
